ROYAL CANIN RENAL CANINE FUNCTIONAL FOOD
SUPPORTS KIDNEY FUNCTION FOR DOGS
(Chronic Kidney Disease = Chronic Kidney Disease/CKD)
RECOMMENDATIONS
Start Royal Canin Renal Diet as soon as creatinine* levels exceed the reference level (late CKD stage 2), before the condition worsens and becomes chronic. In case the dog stops eating, it can be switched to Renal Diet without any transition step (7-day food change rule). The dog can maintain Renal Diet for life.
*Creatinine is only excreted by the kidneys, so the creatinine index in the blood will accurately reflect kidney function and diagnose kidney failure.
Determine the stage of CKD in dogs:
Take your dog to the veterinary clinic for a blood test to determine the creatinine or SDMA (Symmertric Dimethylnarginine) index.
Use the IRIS (Canine and Feline Chronic Kidney Disease Staging System) table to evaluate.
Indications
Chronic Kidney Disease with Uremia (IRIS* Stages 2 to 4)
Chronic Kidney Disease with Proteinuria (IRIS* Stages 1 to 4)
*IRIS (The International Renal Interest Society): Chronic Kidney Disease Staging System for Dogs and Cats.
