Dietary food to support weight control for overweight and obese cats.
ROYAL CANIN SATIETY WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT FOR OVERWEIGHT CATS
Determine your target weight and then set your feeding schedule. The recommended daily amount of food is based on your pet’s ideal weight. The feeding schedule may need to be adjusted during check-ups, based on your cat’s body response and rate of weight loss. The goal is to lose 1 – 3% of body weight per week for the first 3 months and then 0.5 – 2%.
How is the energy requirement for maintenance of body weight after weight loss calculated? The energy requirement for maintenance of body weight in cats after weight loss is lower than in cats that have never been obese. Based on current scientific knowledge (Serisier & al. 2011), the maintenance energy requirement for Satiety after weight loss is calculated by increasing the weight loss ration by 33%.
Note: The maintenance ration after weight loss can be adjusted depending on the lifestyle of each individual.
