Treatment of flea and tick infestations and prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis larvae), Angiostrongylosis (by reducing the level of L5 and adult Angiostrongylus vasorum) and / or treatment of gastrointestinal worm infections.
+ Treatment of flea infestations in dogs (Ctenocephalides felis and C. canis).
+ Treatment of tick infestations in dogs (Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus).
+ Fleas and ticks must parasitize the host and start biting the host, then that is the basis for calculating the time of exposure to the active ingredient.
+ Treatment of adult gastrointestinal worm infections with the following species: roundworms (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense and Ancylostoma ceylanicum) and whipworms (Trichuris vulpis).
+ Use once a month to prevent heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis larvae).
+ Use once a month to prevent Angiostrongylosis (by reducing the level of infection with L5 and adult Angiostrongylus vasorum).
NOTE:
+ Fleas and ticks that begin to bite the host are exposed to Afoxolaner, so the risk of tick and flea-borne disease transmission cannot be excluded.
+ Heartworm prevention is very important. To reduce the risk of resistance, it is recommended to test for circulating antigens and microfilariae in the blood of dogs before starting the treatment season. Only treat dogs with negative results. NexGard Spectra is not indicated for the treatment of microfilariae in positive dogs.
+ Only treat dogs at least 8 weeks of age. Dogs weighing < 2 kg should be based on a safety risk assessment by a veterinarian.
+ The product may cause digestive disorders if swallowed.
+ Keep the tablets in the blister pack until needed and place the blister pack in the carton.
+ In case of accidental ingestion, consult a physician and show the product label.
+ Wash hands thoroughly after use.
+ Use during pregnancy and lactation: Laboratory studies in rats and rabbits: no evidence of congenital malformations, or any adverse effects on male or female fertility. Safety has not been established in pregnancy and lactation or in breeding dogs. Use only on the basis of a veterinarian’s risk assessment.
+ Interactions with other medicinal products and other interactions: Milbemycin oxime is a substrate for P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and may therefore interact with other P-gp substrates (e.g. digoxin, doxorubicin) or macrocyclic lactones. Therefore, concomitant treatment with other P-gp substrates may lead to increased toxicity.
+ Overdose: No adverse reactions were observed in healthy 8-week-old dogs after 6 treatments at the maximum dose of 5 times the recommended dose.
Other information:
+ Afoxolaner is an insecticide and acaricide of the Isoxazoline family. It is active against adult fleas as well as against some ticks such as Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus, D. variabilis, Ixodes ricinus, I. scapularis, Amblyomma americanum and Haemaphysalis longicornis.
+ Afoxolaner kills fleas before they lay eggs and thus prevents infestations in the home. It can be used as part of a treatment strategy to control flea allergy dermatitis.
+ Milbemycin oxime is an internal and external parasite of the Macrocyclic lactone group. It is active against some gastrointestinal worms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Ancylostoma ceylanicum, Trichuris vulpis), the L5 and adult lungworm Angiostrongylus vasorum and the larvae of the heartworm Dirofilaria immitis.
Dispose of the blister pack after use and unused medicine according to current hazardous waste regulations.
